Tuition Assistance

 

 

The Air Force Military Tuition Assistance (TA) program is an important quality of life program that provides tuition and fees for college courses taken by active duty personnel during off-duty hours. TA is capped at $250 per semester hour (or $166 per quarter hour) and is restricted to a maximum of $4500 per fiscal year.

 

How to Apply for Tuition Assistance

Go to:

Air Force Portal > Education & Training > Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) > Apply for Tuition Assistance

 

WHEN  REQUESTING  TA  ON-LINE, Remember:

  1. TO have a degree plan/program of study scanned into your education records if pursing a degree other than CCAF

  2. TO have your registration / cost summary handy

  3. TO check the correct course location (ie., ON base, OFF base, Distance Learning)

  4. THERE  is NO space between course code and course number. Example: CA103 or MATH1301 NOT  CA 103 or MATH 1301

  5. TA  does NOT pay for books/equipment or non-reimbursable fees

  6. Grades are due within 30 days of the term end date

 

Contact Customer Service before applying for TA when:

  1. You owe the AF a tuition reimbursement

  2. Your current GPA is below 2.0 over the last 12 semester hours

  3. The term start date has already passed

  4. Your DOS does not extend beyond the term ending date

  5. The course you wish to take is NOT on your degree plan

  6. The term start date is MORE than 30 days out

  7. Your degree plan has NOT been scanned into your AFAEMS education record

  8. You are applying for the same course you dropped or failed in a previous semester

  9. You are an officer who does not have sufficient time remaining to fulfill your Active Duty Service Commitment of 2 years.
